Pollination
of seed sunflower constitutes the majority of pollination services done
by Derby Apiaries. On average we have 500 hives available for pollination.
These hives are full production hives with colonies that are in top form.
Transportation of hives are done in enclosed refrigerator trailers in order
to combat the Capensis problem currently prevalent in South Africa.. We
do not place our hives in the vicinity of hives belonging to other commercial
beekeepers; this is to safeguard ourselves and other beekeepers against
the spreading of the Capensis problem. We enter into a standard contract
with farmers requiring pollination in order to avoid misunderstanding.
We
are present in the North West, Gauteng, Northern, Freestate and Mapumalanga
provinces of South Africa.
