South Africa is known for its ideal conditions for ostrich farming.

Ostrich meat is low in both cholesterol and calories. It is almost fat free and tastes very similar to beef. Ostrich meat is a healthy alternative to red meat, and its distinct subtle taste and versatility has made it sought after by hoteliers, restaurateurs, home cooks and caterers throughout the world.

One of the main reasons for its popularity is that it is lower in calories, saturated fats and cholesterol than even chicken and turkey, with 0,5% fat and 21% protein content. This makes ostrich meat ideal for today's trend towards lighter cooking and healthier eating.

An increasing number of hotels and restaurants offer ostrich meat, while home cooks can find it in delicatessens and supermarketsd. Ostrich meat prime cuts are fillets and steaks. The  birds are all free range and bio-friendly remedies are supported. Ostrich meat is excellent for cooking - from flavorful roast dishes to tasty grills and schnitzels. Our other cuts that are increasing in popularity are neck, ideal for hearty stews, also goulash, which can be stewed or used in spicy stirfry dishes. There is also an increasing market for ostrich liver, from which a most delectable paté can be made.
 

Abattoirs, used exclusively for the slaughtering, hygiene controls stipulated by importing countries in Europe and world-wide. This ensures that all ostrich meat leaving the premises is the very best that can be  offered. Cuts are vacuum sealed in bags
of 2,5 kg each, before being packaged in specially designed 10 kg boxes. The meat is exported either fresh or frozen to accommodate out-of-season demand. Choice ostrich meat is delectably tender yet firm in texture. Superbly flavoursome without being overpowering. The ideal health food that's low in cholesterol.
